andscapes are probably my favourite form of photography. Finding a magnificent vista is one thing but then being able to ensure it provides a stunning and memorable image is another issue altogether. Capturing these images is a combination of research, planning, dedication and a lot of luck; especially in respect to the light. Light is everything in photography and being able to match a location, a composition and wonderful light requires a great deal of good fortune. No matter how much you "will" clouds to move they will often block the rays of the sun when you least want it. Getting up early and going to bed late when travelling to get the sun at its best across an amazing landscape is part of the task. Consulting tide tables, sun angles and much more on your mobile phone and laptop is all part of it. As is climbing up and down steep hillsides and caves to get to an illusive waterfall are also part of it. You get wet, dirty and sometimes bruised. But when it all comes together, and you are rewarded with a truly inspiring image, it is really worth it and makes you do it all over again.
